Kayla's 5!

Let's do a little bit of catching up from Kayla's birthday.  She turned one whole hand, 5!!!!  It was the first year that I felt she was ready to be five for awhile and I was ready for it.  Although now I want her to be five for a long, long time.  Just before her birthday, we did a lot of leaf pick-up with the mower and a little bit of leaf raking, mostly just to get some good pics of the kids enjoying a nice big leaf pile.  No grumpy looking pictures this year!

Kayla had a mini-birthday party with her friend Kayli and Colin's bestie, Bella.  She definitely enjoyed having her friend to eat cake with.  The funny story of the evening was we had gotten Kayla a fish tank for her birthday.  It was all set up in her room ready to go and I had gotten fish that afternoon, so she wasn't allowed to go in her room all day.  We were planning to videotape her coming in to her room to find the tank.  Mommy and Daddy had set our sights high with this one.  However, as the adults were getting dinner ready, we notice how quiet things are, so I head over to Kayla's room and notice the door open and two girls come out in dress-up clothes.  I ask Kayla if she noticed anything in her room and at first she said no, and I said, "Are you sure?"  Then she said, "Oh yea, there's a fish tank in my room!"  and off she went.  That was it.  So, no video and major excitement for the parents.  She has since gotten very interested in her fish tank and feeds her fish every day and helps me clean them.  Currently, the five fish names are Mr. Pickles, Orange, Jewelry, Stripey, and Pink.

As been tradition, for Kayla's birthday, we took the kids to the Dells for a couple of days.  We were able to get a room with bunk beds, which the kids LOVED.  Both of them slept all through the night and now wouldn't mind sharing room if they had bunk beds.

We stay at Mt. Olympus which has a waterpark and indoor theme park.  It was there that we discovered Kayla's thrill seeker side.  She went on a ride that Jordan and I have never been on before.  It goes up slowly, then shoots you down, then repeats multiple times.  Kayla must have gone on at least a half dozen times.

After that, it was off to bumper cars and go-carts.  Colin only just tolerated these rides while Kayla was having a blast.

The following morning while we were waiting for the pool to open, we hung out at the arcades where Daddy miraculously won both Kayla and Colin each a ball.  Kayla was quite dissapointed that it wasn't a color she wanted, but  that game was tough!

Here's Colin clinging as tightly as possible because those elevators are just so scary!

Here are the kids enjoying the waterpark.  Kayla being as fearless as ever, spent half her time taking Daddy all the way up to the top of the waterslides and tubing down.  Colin went once and then we were done.

Last but not least, here is Kayla at her Fall Concert. See if you can find her!
