Western Caribbean Cruise 2023

And we're off!  We left on Jordan's birthday so decided to decorate his door.

A few scenes from day 1 at sea.  Lots of eating and bingo.

Kayla was invited up to sing at the piano bar!  She sang her favorite song, Yellow by Coldplay.  So proud of her!

Night movie out on deck

Scenes from our family scavenger hunt!

First stop...Jamaica!  We all did a float trip and some shopping.

After Jamaica was the Cayman Islands. We swam with the stingrays here while others did a cave tour.  Colin decided he was going to move here and just swim with stingrays all the time.  Kayla...not a fan of the stingrays.

The next day, we split up and half of us went to Tulum while the other half helped baby sea turtles hatch!

What a great trip with everyone!

Of course ended the trip with dinner at Mr. Brews.

NOLA & Family Cruise 2023 - Part 1

Our first night down to New Orleans, we stopped at Cahokia to see the largest Native American site.

The next morning, we amused ourselves at the world's largest fountain drink!  Arrived in the beautiful city of NOLA that evening.

Our first day down, we all went on a drive to check out areas around NOLA.  First stop was Jean Lafitte Preserve where the spiders are as large as your head and eat dragonflies!  Luckily they were all above our heads so the walking wasn't so bad.

Then ate at a little outdoor cajun restaurant on the backwaters of the Mississippi.

Afterwards, Jordan, Colin, and I took the trolley to Audubon Park to see the Tree of Life.  Even the squirrel thought it was hot out!

The next day we had Karen and Lee with us so took the trolley to see a few famous houses near where we stayed.  First up, the Coven House from American Horror Story.

We found a guitar just laying on the ground.  So naturally, we took pictures with it.

Then it was my favorite...Anne Rice's house.  This house inspired the house in her witch series and those of us that read the books were just awe inspired and took way too many photos.

We then went for a drive for lunch and a tour of Oak Alley, a former plantation.  After a tour, we enjoyed our first mint julep!  The live oaks everywhere are just gorgeous.

Dana, Eric, and Jennette joined us that night, and surprise!

That night, the older kids had a drink or two on Bourbon Street.  It's everything they say it is and I can't even imagine what the atmosphere is like during Mardi Gras!

The whole group waiting for the trolley to head to the French Quarters

Scenes from the French Quarter - alleyways where vampires might lurk (at night of course) and where they stayed in Interview with the Vampire, Cafe du Monde, the cathedral, Mississippi River, Marie Laveau's house, and the St. Louis Cemetery.

That night about half the crew went to do a paranormal experience.  Colin and I stayed back but Kayla and Jordan are pretty certain they had some encounters.  The next day, we packed up and headed for the cruise ship.  Goodbye NOLA, can't wait to come back!
