Winter 2021

Getting back from vacation, we dove into some house projects - fixing up the basement, guest bathroom improvements, and stripping the wallpaper/removing cabinets from the kitchen.  More to come on the kitchen this winter!  Even enlisted some kid help.

We had some decent snow and spent some time at the sledding him, both at the high school and at home.

Even made a family snowman!  And yes, Colin is eating snow in this pic.

Building an epic snow fort.  We all had a snowball fight and pretty sure Daddy won and we all lost.

Ashy girl

Yep - Colin in his pjs playing with the soccer ball in the snow.

And a couple more cute pics.  Otherwise, that's about all we got.  Snowy winter during a pandemic will do that.  Here comes spring!

New Mexico/Texas 2020/2021

The thought came to us a few weeks before Christmas to go camping somewhere south and WARM over the holidays.  We debated about where to go and finally settled on Carlsbad, NM!  Jordan and I were hoping to leave before Christmas but the kids were insistent on being home for Christmas, so we left first thing on the 26th and made it to our spot for the week the evening of the 27th.

First stop was Guadalupe Mountains National Park - lots of beautiful mountain formations here along with an old homestead.  Took a nice hike to a spring and enjoyed the warmer weather in the 50s.

Next stop was White Sands National Park which is surrounded by a missle test base!  It was another beautiful day spent sledding down the sand.  The sleds needed some wax (we forgot to get  some!) to go fast so Colin spent most of his time tumbling down.  Ash loved to run around and roll in the sand.

It's so bright!

We drove through the mountains on the way home and drove through a snowstorm with the temperature dropping down to 29 degrees.  Little did we know that we would be waking up to this!

We spent the morning reading and playing games in the camper while we waiting for the weather to warm up a bit.

In the afternoon, we drove out to Sitting Bull Falls.  The snow made the drive and waterfall SO pretty!  These pictures don't do the scenery justice.

Next national park on the list...Carlsbad Caverns!  Unfortunately the bats were down south and we didn't get to see the swarm so we'll have to make sure to come back.  3+ hours in the caverns, they were beautiful!

Had to stop in White City to say hi to the aliens.

On our last day, we went for a drive into the mountains again to go exploring.  Had another snowball fight in the snow!

Thanksgiving/Christmas 2020

It's easy (or distracting?) to do homework when you're surrounded by pets.

Daddy had a couple helpers in the tree stand this season

It was tough celebrating another birthday during a pandemic but we made the most of it!  Lots of cake and cookies keeping warm in the garage with masks and family.  :)  Happy 12th birthday Kayla!

Kayla and Smudge

Kayla's become quite the baker and she helped me make a few things for Thanksgiving at home.  The school supplied most of the dinner but we just didn't have quite enough desserts.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Virtual school and work - all in one room sometimes!

Colin's holiday concert was virtual this year.  He performed with the songs in the background.  It was quite fun and entertaining to watch although the second photo shows his thoughts on the 'ordeal.'

Testing out their Oreo dunking station...success!

Merry Christmas!
