Kohler-Andrae cont.

Playing at the campsite...

Yummy corn!

There was a candlelight hike at night that Jordan and I switched taking Kayla to while Colin slept.  It was a fun experience hiking by the light of the candles and moon.

Of course, Colin woke up early, so Jordan took him for some early morning hikes.

Kayla loved hiking too.  On one of our hikes, she was even the first to spot a deer!

More beach time!

We had such a great time at the beach that both kids zonked out on the ride home.  They certainly don't look comfy!

Kohler-Andrae State Park

Lots of kids updates!  Kayla has been sleeping in our bed for quite a long time now and we keep going back and forth when we should put our foot down and make her sleep in her own room.  Well Kayla of course is starting to do it all on her own.  She now starts off in her own bed and will try to sleep through the night downstairs, but will occasionally hop into bed with us in the night.  Some nights I don't even know when she comes up, I just wake up to a Kayla Bug snuggling up next to me.

Kayla's been having a rough few weeks getting dropped off in the morning at preschool, particularly with Jordan.  When I finally asked her about it, she said crying gets her energy up...  Smart words from a smart little girl.  Most days are getting better, but we're still working on it.

As Jordan was leaving for work one day, Kayla called out, "Make sure you don't get any poison ivy daddy!"    It had been awhile since he's had poison ivy, so it's cute that she remembers it.

We were driving a few weeks ago and went through a construction zone where they were putting down asphalt.  Kayla says, "What is that beautiful smell?!"

Colin is starting to get out of his clingy stage.  He is now Mr. Smiles and will make sure to get you smiling too with whatever it is he's doing.  He can now say more, kitty, baby, do do (thank you-he says this when he hands you things).  He is still a chow hound and will eat anything that gets put in front of him.  He loves to chase Kayla to give her hugs.  Kisses are next.  His favorite toy is a good old ball, picking it up, throwing it, then doing it all over again.  Or he'll switch it up a bit and kick the ball all over the house.

Here are photos from the past weekend's trip to the beach!  Let's go, let's go!  Kayla's hair is quite long in this pic.

BEACH!!

Upside-down sand angel

Colin insisted on carrying his goldfish crackers which quickly turned into sand goldfish.  Either way, he liked them just as well.

Our best attempt at getting a super cute picture.

Brunet Island State Park cont..

It was so cute today.  Kayla was sad that I was not making chocolate cupcakes (I was making chocolate chip cookies, how could she be sad!?) and Colin saw her being sad and walked over and gave her a hug.  I of course, didn't have the camera.

Playtime at the campsite

Chowing down in the camper.  It was sunny and hot at the picnic table, so we ate inside.

Mama caught a fish!

Mama took charge of carrying Colin on this hike

On our way home, we stopped for lunch in a little town and Colin had his first taste of a butterscotch milkshake.  It was pretty hard getting it away from him.

Then we stayed for their parade!  Kayla and Colin had never experienced a parade before.  Kayla's favorite part was of course picking up all the candy that was thrown out.  Colin had fun watching all the big trucks and cars go by until they honked their horns.

Kayla thought most of the parade was pretty loud too.

Colin even got into the candy!

Brunet Island State Park

Not sure if I mentioned this, but we bought ourselves a new pop-up camper and car!  We took the camper on it's maiden voyage up to Brunet Island State Park with Kayla and Colin for a couple of nights and had such a great time.

One of the highlights of our weekend was Kayla caught her first fish!  She was so proud and went on to catch many more after that.

Hanging out by the fire.

Kayla stayed up pretty late for her both nights and Colin got up early, so Jordan took Colin out hiking both mornings.  They were the only ones to see deer that weekend!

Fun on the swings

To be continued...

All caught up!

We've been swimming at the trailer quite a bit lately and Kayla is starting to master swimming on her own!  We are so proud of her.  Jordan and Kayla practice swimming back and forth from the stairs.  She is working on getting her head up above the water, but she can do quite well swimming half underwater.

Colin said a new word today, bubble!  He pointed to the bubbles and said bubble!  He was also playing with some shape blocks over the weekend and on more than one occasion, separated the circle shapes from all the others.  I was amazed he could do that!

Sprinkler time at Grandma's house!  The water was a little cold, so it took Colin a little bit of time to get used to the water, but he had fun once he was soaked.

Kayla on the other hand...

During free fishing weekend, we took Kayla out front with her new fishing pole and even though she didn't catch any fish, she had a blast, so we got a fishing license.  Hopefully I'll get to posting pics from our camping trip soon to see what she can do with a fishing pole!

Aww...my two sleepy guys!

Picnics and Birthdays cont.

Kayla had tons of fun rolling down the hills at Aztalan.  While Colin played in the grass, she would climb up the hill, then roll down like a log and do it all over again.

There are quite a few Kayla and Colin stories from the past couple of months.  One is Kayla has many stuffed animal friends that she names either random names (make up a word, it's probably been a name of an animal) to Samuel the otter, Betta the cat, Bellarina the cat, and many many more.  Every day she brings a new friend to school for nap time and every night a new friend joins her to go to bed.

Check out those birthday cakes and Colin's second first birthday party!

Cute blurry birthday boy!

Hey, a birthday present photo without a big sister trying to try out all the presents.  : )

Going...

Going.....

Gone!!

Kayla and Daddy mowing the lawn!  This was back when we had a lawn that was still growing.  She definitely loves to help mow.

Kayla enjoys giving crayons haircuts.  This means peeling the crayon paper off every crayon she sees leaving  haircuts behind everywhere she goes.

Peekaboo!  Colin has learned how to play peekaboo and will even walk around with his hands over his eyes playing peekaboo, until he runs into something of course.  : )
