Happy 6th Birthday Colin!

Let's start with the good news from earlier this summer.  Colin turned 6!

We had a great time celebrating with family over the birthday weeks.  These kids just don't stop growing.  Check out this nerf gun...it's as big as he is!

The kids got their very first fidget spinners!  Needless to say, we are now up to seven of those things somehow.  They're popular trading items at school

Unfortunately during the time, Colin had several medical issues come up.  A few days before his birthday, he came down with a UTI.  He did so great at urgent care, and after getting some meds, we thought we were in the clear...

...until a week later when he came down with a fever and rash that lasted three days and never quit even with medication.  We took him to the doctor who then transferred him to St. Mary's in Madison via ambulance for what ended up being Kawasaki Disease.

Poor kiddo was so lethargic the next day while doctors examined him and made the official diagnosis.  Luckily we caught it in time and we started him on immunoglobulins.  Had we been a few days later, his prognosis could have been a lot worse.

Colin ended up missing a week of school, but look at all these cards his classmates and friends made him!  We were just so thankful to have so much support through all of this, it was just amazing.  We read every single one to him and all of us (Colin too!) had happy tears.

Once the treatment was done, we noticed a complete change in Colin....for the better!  He was up and playing almost all day long.

And after three days at the hospital, Colin was able to go home!  He still had to take asprin for the next six weeks until our follow-up echo cardiogram, but was otherwise completely healthy.  And thank goodness, the follow-up for his heart was 100% perfect.  : )

The day we came home was also scheduled to be his birthday party which we ended up postponing till after vacation.  However, that didn't stop Colin from wanting to set up our new bounce house to celebrate being home!  And what an awesome big sister Kayla was during this whole ordeal.  She was just great adjusting to our crazy schedule and helping Colin out when he needed it.

Kayla's artwork was selected to be at the Ernie Pope Art Show, and our local bank ended up buying it!  In fact, we just went to their open house this past weekend and sure enough, it was hanging up on their local art wall.

We bought a new camper!  Again, lol!  It's an upgrade from our pop-up and luckily we ended up selling the pop-up to our friends, so we still get to see it when we go camping with them.  Here's Colin towing the camper with his jeep.

Ah, that's much better.

Last day of school and last time I can call them my second grader and kindergartner!

Spring 2017

Had a couple of art and learning fairs during the spring - of course the kids made some great things.  Kayla also did a research project on the arctic fox.

Can't remember where we were here, but Kayla's looking cute with her little bow!

Jordan and I had a date night at the Fireside.  We saw Beauty and the Beast and the food was amazing!  We might look into taking the kids to the Little Mermaid next year.  Just need to decide if it's worth the money for them to be picky with their food.  ;)

Little Colin wasn't feeling well one day so Jordan took him to work, and he took a nap in Ash's dog bed.  She then made sure to sleep extra close to him that night.

More silly kids.  They were having fun trying to bounce and pop ballons.

Easter egg hunt at Jones Park

Easter eggs and the park.  Looks like we some warm weather!

Reading on the couch with the ever-watchful pup

Pet my tummy!

Meeting the Jones pig!

Hanging out on the lion at the dentist.  So far kids are cavity-free!

As usually happens at our house, we found a garter snake!  The kids still get a little iffy holding the snakes even though this is nothing new for them.  Kayla is getting really good at catching them now!

Another lost tooth!

Colin was lucky enough to go out in the field with me to look for ornate box turtles using 'turtle dogs' to find them!  We had so much fun and even found a fresh hatchling!  Colin enjoyed keeping track of the turtles and playing with the dogs.

Kayla felt left out so she went and found a baby snapping turtle. I love my nature kids!

California 2017

Our first stop in California was to Joshua Tree National Park!  We camped for two night with the first night under a Wind Warning!  Between trying to keep the tents from blowing away, keeping chairs and other objects from blowing into the fire, and calming the kids, it was quite a memorable night.  Luckily we all survived except for Dana and Eric's tent.  :(

Boys are starting the fire

We may have taken ALOT of pictures.  Papa and Linda brought lunch the next day and went for a hike with us.

Playing games at the campsite

Rock climbing

Sistas!

Mission Creek's old buildings

We went to a fun arcade-type park

Thanks for visiting Auntie Dana and Uncle Eric!

Jordan and I on a HOT hike!  We went two different way on the way back and I could see Jordan all the way from the bottom.

Swimming of course

Last day enjoying the Mustang convertible

Getting on the plane, outside!  It's been fun California...till next time!
