2018 Southeast Vacation "From the mountains..."

First stop on our summer adventure was Mammoth Cave National Park.

We had a nice campsite for the night with deer around every corner.

Colin built a cabin from sticks and leaves.  It later succumbed to a fire.  :)

Explored above ground before heading to the caves

We then took a lantern tour of the Great Onyx Cave.  With the only light coming from lanterns,  it was hard to get good pictures!  But we had lots of fun exploring.  Especially finding cave crickets and salamanders!

Another day, another hike.  Colin found a red-bellied snake!

Earning their junior ranger badges

One last cave tour - Mammoth Cave!

Wish we had more time to spend at the park, but now we're on to the Smokies!  Not before stopping at an official moonshine store.  The kids kept busy while Daddy shopped.  :)

Hike up to Clingman's Dome.  It was a bit breezy.  Colin found a cicada!

Having fun on the trails

Our campsite was one of the best ones we've ever had as it backed up to a creek!  Didn't want to leave at times.

Typical morning breakfast.  This morning Jordan went on his own more difficult hike.

Our first river float!  Had a great time riding the mini rapids and jumping off rocks
