I was just looking back on Kayla's blog post from when she was 22 months, and it's amazing how much bigger she seems than Colin. Colin is just a little peanut, but I thought Kayla was a peanut back then!
Continuing on with our day at Siesta Key. It was lots of playing in the sand. Someone had the fabulous idea of bring a giant truck for Colin down and once he discovered the truck, that's all he played with. He would go back and forth, to the waves and up to the chairs. Filling it with sand, then dumping it out. He sure does love his trucks, trains, and planes.
I don't know who was having more fun in the sand that day. Colin, Kayla, or Mama! Luckily Dada was in charge of the camera otherwise, he would have gotten down and dirty playing in the sand too.
That truck is so hard to push with all that drizzle sand in it!
It's even harder in the dry sand!
Ahhh...much better.
Colin has been really big into hugs and kisses lately. Whenever I put him down for bed or a nap, he knows I can't resist one last hug or kiss, so as I go to leave he spreads his arms out and says, "Hug?" I then rush over, give him a big hug, he sticks out his little bottom lip for a kiss, then I start to leave again when I hear, "Hug?" He knows just how to keep me in there with him. : ) He also likes to give Kayla hugs whenever she starts crying.
Fun in the sun!
Kayla has been really into the Cinderella story lately. In Florida, everyone read her one book before bed, and somehow I got stuck reading Cinderella every day for a week! Then when we get home, she realizes we have three different Cinderella stories, so she will sometimes insist that we read all three in one night.
I think I mentioned in the previous post about how Colin actually willingly eats veggies of all kind, and here's the proof! Green beans, broccoli, carrots, it doesn't matter. Today he was eating corn and beans. Both Kayla and Colin also cannot turn down chips and salsa!
The four of us went to a state park to look for some alligators and took a air boat ride, that Kayla went on with us last year. We were the first ones on the boat, and once everyone had gotten on, we discovered that all the little kids and families were in the back, while everyone without kids were up front. This is how it looked before the other families came on board.
Colin LOVED the boat ride. He loved watching the fish in the water and the birds that flew by.
Kayla had fun looking at alligators too.
After the boat ride, we went on a little hike to the tree tower.
Hey, this tree looks familiar.
Hikin'. Colin's a big hiker and will go just about anywhere. Kayla needs to have a nice trail, can't be too hot, and preferably needs to be some kind of incentive to get her to the end.
Tree! Colin loved this tree. It took awhile to get him out of the tree.
The pictures don't do this justice, but that was one big gator.
On our last day in Florida, we took the kids to the park and Colin thought the park was too dirty with leaves and pine needles, so he spent some time cleaning those up and throwing them away. He was very proud of his work, but as you cal see, he had a loooong way to go.
Then it was off to the water fountains!
Colin found a flower to play with.
Here's Kayla looking surprised when a water spout comes out.
Surrounded by water! I'm pretty sure Daddy bribed her with something to get her to stand in the middle.
In true Colin fashion, he got tired of the water spouts fairly quickly and wanted to go exploring, so I took him for a walk to the gazebo. When we came back, Kayla had made friends with some kids who had shovels and pails with them. Colin was ready to go home so he had put his shoes on but then realized there were toys to be played with.
Unfortunately, all vacations must come to an end. Here are Kayla and Colin watching our plane pull in.
They were fantastic on the plane ride home and Colin even helped me push Kayla out of the airport to our car.
