Going to the park was always a hit with the kids down in Florida. Kayla would spend her time going down the slides or swinging. Colin liked that too, but after about 10 min or so of playing, he'd rather go exploring around the park. He would search for squirrels and lizards or go on his own little hike. If was always exciting to let him lead the way to find new places.
Colin has been working on his numbers and colors with some success. He can count to and counts everything, his fingers and toes, the steps, but just one two, one two. (Update! He's up to four now!) He knows all the colors by name but has limited luck getting the correct colors. We're working on it though. : )
Kayla has been big into spelling lately. She asks for us to spell a word and then she'll write it out as we spell. She's really good with her letters! I have a feeling it's only going to be a matter of time before she's reading.
Here's our smiley boy! He slept in the pack and play the whole 10 days we were down there and when we came back, he refused to sleep in his crib! It took until just today for him to go back in his crib again.
While we were at the beach, we made sure to collect a couple of shells for her friends at school. She started to really miss them towards the end of the trip.
At Shamrock Park, this was Colin's favorite park, the see-saw! We would go up and down and he just giggled the entire time.
Slidin'! We've discovered that even though Kayla is a very picky eater, lately she's been eating and liking new foods including carrots, hard-boiled eggs, and bacon. Colin is even better and will eat handfuls of green beans, broccoli, and other veggies!
You better watch out otherwise Colin will give you the look!
Kayla wasn't big into hiking this year. I think it was too hot for her. But we had fun looking for armadillos.
Of course we had to find some alligators for Kayla. She loved seeing this one up close.
Colin liked the alligator too, but wanted to go looking for airplanes and go for a walk instead..
After the alligator, we went for a quick walk down to the beach. This turned into the kids getting quite soaked and sandy. And yes, that is Kayla's bootie crack. : )
The best day at the beach was probably at Siesta Key with Jordan's family. Colin got to go in the waves and he laughed a big belly laugh everytime a wave hit him.
Then Kayla wanted to join.
