April 23, 2011

Sorry for the lack of Kayla updates!  By the time I think of updating at night, I'm either too tired or the pictures are all on the camera still.  But not anymore!  Here's one from awhile ago of her crawling under troll bridge.

Kayla had to go to the doctor about two weeks ago.  She finally told me that it hurt her when she went potty and even showed me where.  Luckily we were able to get a sample and sure enough, she had a UTI.  So we started her on some medicine, which smells like grapes, but Kayla doesn't think it tastes as good as it smells.  Twice a day, we have to force medicine down, but it seems to be working since a few days later she has started acting extra goofy and has stopped since.  We had a follow-up doctor's appointment on Thursday, but until we can bring another sample in, they won't know much.  It's quite tricky to get this little girl who is just starting to learn how to use a potty to go on command, but we're trying!  Her goofiness has included lots of lion roaring and from what we hear at Jenny's, she'll even roar at strangers!

Kayla has officially moved downstairs into her own room!  And I was all worried over nothing because just like everything else, it was super easy to move her downstairs.  She took to having her own room very easily.  Jordan moved her dresser and toddler bed and all of her toys in there too.  She even helped Dada build her bookcase!  We keep the baby monitors on because sometimes she'll wake up in the night and Minnie will have fallen on the floor but to date, we have yet to go down and check on her.

You can see Kayla was an extra big helper building her bookcase.  She's been helping us out with other tasks too like making dinner...or making cookies.  She helped out the most when a few chocolate chips jumped out of the bowl.  She showed those chips who was boss by eating them.  : )

A couple of weekends ago, the weather actually turned decent for a day and we all headed outside to play and do yard work.  Kayla made sure to blow bubbles, draw with chalk, lift up bricks to looks for worms, and watch for boats on the river.  She also enjoyed watching Dada on the lawnmower cleaning up all the leaves.  But the highlight of the day was when the neighbor kid found a gartersnake and brought it over for Kayla to see.  She loved it!  She also helped Dada do a little burn on our prairie.

Here are some good examples of Kayla's silliness:

I was doing laundry the other day when Kayla comes into the laundry room looking for her baby's 'look'.  (A look is a nook.)  I told her I thought it was in her new bedroom.  She said, "Oh, ok," and walked out.  Just as she walks past the kitchen, I hear her say, "Oh, I forgot to say goodbye to Mama."  She turns around, walks back in the laundryroom and says goodbye to me then goes back to her bedroom.  It was tooo cute!

And another example of her silliness:

Here's Kayla's new favorite toy.  An ABC ladybug puzzle!  She has gotten so good that she can match all of the big letters with their little letter matches.  Time to get her a harder puzzle!
