August 1, 2010

Well we've had quite the busy month, but I imagine each summer will get busier and busier.  I don't think we've had one weekend at home, but that's ok!  We either at Grams and Papa's swimming in the pool and riding in the golf cart or at Grandma's and Papa's blowing bubbles and swimming in the neighbor's pool.  The library's summer reading program had a pool party at our local aquatic center so we just went there this past weekend.  It was cold and threatening rain, but that didn't stop Kayla from splashing and sliding!

Kayla's new words and sentences include: "move meow!", "boat", "bees and carn" (beans and corn), "book", "char" (chair), "chickdee" (chickadee), and Lee's favorite, "Lee!"

"bees and flies" - every bug is now a bee or a fly.  Although just yesterday she had a very bad experience with a bee.  We were playing with bubbles on the deck when she stepped on a wasp!  That mean wasp stung her in the toe and then stung her again in the back!  Luckily it didn't leave a stinger and the swelling went down pretty fast.  Knock on wood, I've never been stung, but I would have gladly taken those stings from Kayla Bug!

"One, two, wee, or, ive" - That's right!  Kayla can count to five with her fingers!  Most days she can only do two and three, every now and then she will remember all five.  What a smart cookie!

Here's Kayla coloring:
Kayla has started trying to put her clothes on by herself.  If you see her one day wearing mismatched clothes or a skirt over her head, you'll know why.  : )

Well, it's been the second wettest month in Wisconsin's history right behind June 2008 (see previous posts for what happened then).  And because of all the rain, we've had some flooding going on.  Kayla, of course, thinks it's just one big puddle to play in.  Luckily it didn't get much worse than this:

Next time, hopefully we'll have good news to report about the water!
