January 8, 2011

We had a pretty good Christmas this year and Kayla sure did enjoy her time with everyone.  Kayla really got the hang of opening presents even if the wrapping paper ended up in itty bitty pieces everywhere.  She almost enjoyed passing everyone's presents out more than opening her own.

Reeaach into that stocking!

At Christmas morning breakfast, the restaurant has a dancing Santa Claus.  If you remember from last year, Kayla hated that Santa.  This year, it was a struggle to pull her away.  She just wanted to dance and dance some more with him!  Swinging side to side and bouncing on her knees.  She loved it!

For New Years, Jordan and I went downtown to see the early show fireworks (no way anyone was going to get me to stay fully awake till midnight!) and was home by 10:30.  We then found out that Kayla went to her own New Years party with my Mom and hadn't gone to bed since she was laid down an hour earlier.  So she sat up with us and Kayla was so energized, she rang in the New Year with us.

Just today we started to put Kayla down in her big girl bed.  It went better than I was expecting.  At naptime, Jordan and I both layed next to her and closed our eyes and after a half hour or so of watching her rearrange her bed out of the corners of our eyes, she finally settled down to sleep.  Bedtime was easier.  She still wanted to rearrange her bed, but once I turned the light off and said goodnight, we haven't heard or seen her since.  Maybe after Florida we'll move it down into her very own room!

Some silly Kayla stories:

- At the pet store, Kayla wanted Dada to open the bird cage with his keys.
- When Kayla was eating her marpillows, Dada asked her is she was going to share with white Minnie.  Kayla said, "No, marpillows are mine.  I love marpillows."
- Kayla doesn't like the kitties or the bunny sniffing her things.  "Pudgey, that's my balloon."  Hopefully this isn't a trend.
- She has recently discovered that drawing and making holes in playdoh is a lot of fun!  She even painted at toddlertime this past week.
- Kayla has been starting to call us Mom and Dad.  She's too young to start that!
- Kayla got really mad at Dada for shoveling snow the other day.  Now everytime we go outside she tells us, "No shoveling."  She loves her snow.  I just wish we had more of it so we can actually go out and enjoy it!

I'll post on baby boy next week.  We had our ultrasound this past week and the doctor appt is on Monday.
