November 3, 2009

What an eventful past couple of weeks our family has had!  To start, Jordan and I have a very nice and relaxing vacation in the southern Caribbean!  The weather was perfect for hiking and biking to waterfalls, snorkling with sea turtles, and laying on the beach.  However, we did miss Kayla quite a bit, especially everytime we saw a little one.  We were always wondering what Kayla was doing at home, or if we had taken her (which we were glad we didn't) what she would be doing with us.  It made coming home to her that much better!  She had grown so much in that short week!

And while Jordan and I were both convinced she would be crawling by the time we got back, she still wanted nothing to do with it.  She was quite happy to stand and walk while holding on to our fingers.  Kayla is now doing all sorts of cute things.  For example, we taught her where her belly is so next you see her make sure you ask!  We're working on knowing where her nose is next.  Also, for one night, we taught her how to give kisses.  Unfortunately, that one didn't last, but she will kiss and hug her dolls, which is cute too.  Kayla has a new and somewhat dangerous game where she will stand while holding onto something and then fling herself backwards.  Luckily we have learned to either sit behind her to catch her or we have put up a ring of pillow and blankets, which makes flinging backwards so much more fun!  Lots of laughs from all three of us are guarrenteed!

Every fall, we have an invasion of ladybugs and box elder bugs in our house.  Luckily Kayla is keeping them in check.  She is very good at squishing them and then looking at me with sad eyes and wondering why they don't move anymore.

I'm hoping to finish up her homemade baby cubes this week and go strictly with adult food.  Kayla will be glad when that happens since she doesn't care for babyfood anymore.

On a sidenote, I found a job!  I am now working part-time with the Department of Natural Resources!!  I'm working in the Endangered Resources department on falconry and endangered/threatened species permits.

Happy Halloween!  Daddy carved Kayla her first pumpkin from our backyard pumpkin patch.
