March 20, 2011

Sorry for the Kayla Bug update delay!  Both Jordan and I have been very busy lately with work and other things.  Kayla, of course, is just as cute as ever.  We are learning that she is not a morning person when we have to get up early to go to work and Jenny's.  When we try to wake her up, she rolls over and says, "Don't wake me up!  Let me sleep!"  After a few attempts, Jordan will usually pick her up and carry her over to her changing table.  At that point she tell me not to turn the bright lights on until she has her sunglasses, which are socks or a shirt put over her eyes.  Luckily by the time she is done getting dressed, she is somewhat awake and ready for teeth brushing time with Dora Paste.

Yes, Kayla is pulling on Jordan's face just as much as it looks in this pic.  : )

During our time in Florida over a month ago, we went on a hike and saw quite a few armadillos during our walk.  Unfortunately, Kayla was always either ahead of us or behind us with the grandparents when we spotted them, so she never saw one in person, but we took lots of pictures.  A couple of weeks ago, we were looking at our Florida pictures and Kayla asked, "What that?" when an armadillo came up so we told her and ever since then armadillos are her FAVORITE animal.  She begs us to see the armadillo pictures and everytime one comes up yells, "armadilLO!!"  Sometimes she'll jump in her chair because she's so excited.  She'll even tell you, "I just love armadillos!"  No more elephants being her favorite animal.

Another thing Kayla just loves is playing out in the snow.  Unfortunately, we didn't get a lot of chances to get out and play, but at our last snow fall it was warm enough to get out so we bundled Kayla up and took her out to play.  She was so excited just to walk through the snow and pick up snow covered sticks.  Then Dada brought out her sled and she went sledding down our mini hill for awhile.  (This was why I was having such major back issues in the last post from picking Kayla up and putting her in the sled.  It has been fairly better since then).  After sledding, we had a snowball fight!

Just today, Kayla developed a fear for thunderstorms.  We were at my Mom's this morning and wanted to actually watch for the big Kabooms.  We get home and the kaboom we hear and she says, "I'm scared of kabooms" and clings to me and Jordan.  Not sure how or why that changed, but I imagine she'll be coming to sleep with us during the night more often.

I have a doctor's appointment with Noopy on Tuesday so I'll update on him soon!
